Chess Piece

Image
For my chess piece I chose a pawn and I wanted to mold it after the female body. This is just one piece but the theme of the entire set would be body forms. There are many shapes and sizes of bodies and often in the media only one slim frame is portrayed especially in female bodies. To show appreciation for those that are less portrayed I choose a body that is bigger and curvier than the norm to show appreciation for my plus sized queens. Overall, I am very satisfied with the end product. Working in blender was a little frustrating and confusing at first but with time and patience I was able to mold the curves to my liking perfectly. I think I did a very good job molding the form symmetrically. The only thing I have to critique is small factors such as the roughness under the bust and small dents in the head. Drawing In Space

For this project my goal was to construct a high heel shoe. I wanted it to be bigger than an actual size to resemble a sculpture rather than actual shoe. I also wanted to design it in a way that gave it a unique style.  At first I struggled on the process of melting the steel to mold the shoe. It was difficult at times when pieces didn't come together as expected or when the brass did not melt properly to the steel and wasn't cohesive enough. However, things got better with time. It was fairly easy to bend the steel into the shapes I desired to emulate a shoe. I had to make a few adjustments to my design so the shoe could be constructed properly. This caused me to change my design of having a four sided heel to a heel with three sides. All in all, I am satisfied with my end product. Pinterest Board: https://pin.it/1gnE4Ww

Stairway Design

For my project I wanted the theme to be time. Time is a complex structure that I have been trying to grasp a hold of for a while now. To represent time I modeled my project after an hourglass because I admire the shape of the object and it is one of the first objects created to measure time. For my final design I took an abstract approach to the design to show that time is not always how it appears it can be an illusion and can be perceived differently by others which is why depending on what angle you view it from it appears differently. I like how the final design fits my concept so well but I know it could be better if some of the construction was needed but albeit in the process I was indeed running out of time. Also, the pole was a last minute decision so the structure could stand more upright. However, I like that there is one pole opposed to the typical 2 or 4 you would see to construct an hourglass because it makes it fit the abstract style.
